Fountain Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Trails Draft Plan

After nearly a year of community engagement, needs assessment, and conversations with residents, stakeholders, and City staff, the Draft 2026 Fountain PROST Plan is ready for public review, and we want to hear from you! 

The needs assessment found that while the City’s PROST system performs well in overall acreage and trail mileage, it is facing increasing pressure from aging infrastructure, missing trail links, and staffing limitations to maintain upkeep of the facilities. Community input reinforced priorities of maintaining existing parks to a high standard, expanding trail connectivity, and offering additional recreation programming. 

In response, the Draft Plan includes recommendations such as site-specific property improvements, park and trail design standards to guide future development by the City and private developers, expanded recreation programs, a study of a potential future small community center, and improvements to staffing levels and maintenance standards. 

These recommendations will guide the maintenance, operations, development, and long-term vision for Fountain’s parks, trails, open space, and recreation system. Your feedback will help shape the future of these community assets.
