The remainder of the island should be reserved for permanent public open space. When we started developing the middle of the island 20 years ago, we were told the city would never allow more than the 400 houses already approved on the island. Now they are going to add another 500 more, and then how many more after that?
Suggested Revision
Modify the residential zoning code to allow 18-foot-tall buildings for RV garages or similar accessory structures, provided they do not exceed 40% of the building area. This change would enable a large percentage of existing homes to add an RV garage, increasing convenience, property value, and local business opportunities.
Suggested Revision
Public area near Body Beach and its access: Assure ample space and access to this area is maintained; expand to parks and open space. The jet ski/racing held there is a key aspect to Lake Havasu both historically and moving forward maintains a positive and tourist drawing feature. Keeping the area park like is a positive to residents that use this as an easy access to the lake and undeveloped area.
Comment
All existing business and all new businesses should have clean, well maintained and appealing building fronts. It is all well and good to state what an area can be used for, But we need to keep in mind we are a Resort and we should reflect this throughout the whole town.
Suggested Revision
Ensure appropriate set backs in residential areas so our low density neighborhood does not become high density over time.
Suggested Revision
Developers should be required to fund ALL public improvements, such as roadways, schools, parks, needed to support their project. If the annual revenues to the city will not cover the additional police, fire, recreation and other staff needed to support the increased demand associated with the project, developers should be required to contribute in some other way.

All projects should be aesthetically pleasing with high quality materials and landscaping. Metal buildings should be precluded except potentially in the industrial and some heavy commercial and manufacturing areas.

Preserve the character of the Downtown by requiring compatibility with the existing property uses and building materials.

Strengthen code enforcement by updating property maintenance codes and adding meaningful penalties for those who refuse to comply including criminal penalties. The current notice process works for those who may be unfamiliar with the code or need time to comply. New tools are needed for those who refuse or are not there regularly.

Add more staff assigned to the field and administrative personnel to support code enforcement officers, and ensure that all personnel have the relevant training and experience.
Comment
Preserve the integrity, appeal and quality of life in the community by precluding development in SARA Park, preserving unrestricted public access to the lake, maintaining unobstructed lake views by precluding development along Highway 95, and precluding housing density greater than what is currently allowed.
Suggested Revision
Havasu is growing. There is not enough employment to keep up with the influx of people. Why not build a Costco, a Trader Joe's or Sprouts. Make the Shoppes have actual 21st century Shoppes.

I like the thought of having different types of housing. But again, you can place families in a home, but they will need jobs to pay for it.

I hope putting lighting on Residential streets is part of the plan. Pitch dark streets is not the safest for driving or walking. More stop signs or even lights need to be put in the school locations. I live by Starline. People drive like an Audubon up and down Daytona. There is only one stop sign. Many accidents. Im hoping you're not waiting for a kid to actually get hit before you improve street safety.
Comment
I think have a wildlife refuge and national park is very important. However, it will need to be maintained and kept away from developers.
Comment
Adding medium to high density affordable housing at the Shoppes is a great idea. I wholeheartedly support these plans.
Comment
Preserving public shoreline access is the most important priority for me. Vague promises by developers cannot be enforced, it must be secured forever.
Suggested Revision
This segment should be off limits to preserve the SARA recreation area for others to enjoy. this area is open space for hikers and mountain biking. We need to stop building towards the lake.
Comment
The city needs to buy body beach before devlopers get it.
